Last year, Participatory Development Associates (PDA) organized its inaugural Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Child Protection, bringing together about 78 participants including state and non-state actors, to critically engage the existing narratives on child protection and explore avenues for effective collaboration among key stakeholders to improve the child protection system in Ghana. Among others, a key consensus that emerged was on the need for real-time information that not only reflected the protection needs of children in the country, but also on the existing institutional framework and how it engages child protection issues. In furtherance of this, PDA launched a Child Abuse Tracker (using Ushahidi platform) to track child abuse cases published in selected media outlets. PDA also indicated its commitment to putting together an annual report on The State of Child Protection in Ghana. The maiden report is set to be launched at the Second Annual Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Child Protection this year. The findings shall be presented by various authors and discussed with the participants at the workshop. The event shall also involve panel discussions and world café sessions geared towards further unpacking the issues surrounding child protection in Ghana.
