The Institute for Development Practice and Management (IDPM) is an exciting new institution established by Participatory Development Associates (PDA), where development practitioners can come to learn and share – ideas, skills and knowledge. It aims to offer a space for us to reflect on our practice and improve; find new ways, create new futures and innovate. It welcomes beginners and wise sages, aiming to offer a rich mix of events and programmes to stimulate higher standards of development practice within Ghana and West Africa.
The Institute is guided by PDA’s core values and visions. It emphasises practical ideas and methods, lives the belief that ‘everyone matters’ and that everyone can learn if they want to.
Our definition of a development practitioner is broad – not just someone who earns a living doing development work, but all types of community leaders and community minded people such as church leaders, youth leaders.
The IDPM organises a regular programme of courses and meetings, but it also offers the opportunity to people/other organisations to convene groups at the Institute, thus using it as a place to bring people with a common interest in aspects of development practice together.
If there is something you would like to see happening in the Institute and would find helpful, please do contact the manager (details below) so that we can fine tune our programmes and make them as useful and relevant as possible.
Location
The IDPM is centrally and conveniently located just off the Ring Road in Kokomlemle, Accra, close to ATTC and Paloma Hotel. Click on ‘Contact Us’ for a full map and directions.
