As part of the celebration of World AIDS Day in December 2015, PDA staff interviewed Mr. Brandford Yeboah, a living testimony of how a person living with HIV (PLHIV) can face and overcome the threats of the disease. He has lived with HIV for 24 years, even though he has only been on anti-retroviral drugs for three years. Mr. Yeboah is the national vice president and a pioneer member of the Ghana Network of Persons Living with HIV (NAP+), which was established in 2005. NAP+ comprises 350 member support groups spread across Ghana, with over 240,000 registered members.1 NAP+ is governed by a National Executive Committee (NEC) made up of the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. It also has regional executive committees in every region. The main role of NAP+ is to provide support for efficient management of the disease. Mr. Yeboah has been instrumental in mobilizing PLHIVs at both the regional and national levels.
