As we join the rest of the world to Press for Progress of Women on the commemoration of the 2018 International Women’s Day, PDA Ghana and its Associates do not only wish women well, but encourage more men to rise up to the occasion of empowering their girls whiles teaching their boys to appreciate the contributions girls bring to the table so it becomes a part of them as they grow.
The theme for the celebration, “Time is Now: Rural and Urban Activists Transforming Women’s Lives”, is very appropriate considering the numerous projects undertaken by various development organisations including PDA Ghana to empower women at the rural level whiles using women in the urban space as champions and facilitators to encourage rural women to strive for the best.
Activists in Rural and urban spaces continue to advocate for social reforms, influence policy, mobilize, challenge the status quo to ensure women are well represented, heard and are leading. Women Matter because everyone matter.
Let the voices of women be heard for a healthy and just society. Let men arise and advocate for the active participation of women in all spheres.
A world where girls and women are not only economically empowered but have access to education, top positions in organisations, politics and are protected from violence is what PDA Ghana hopes for hence we Join the worlds Call to Action to stop Gender-Based Violence on all fronts.
Sustainable Development goals would be a reality if both rural and urban women are empowered, included, have accesses to lands, health care and education.
Time is indeed up Time is Now for all to join the #PressForProgress.
Participatory Development Associates (PDA) is an organisation that envisions a world where states, communities and organisations provide an enabling environment in which all people, regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, creed, age or disability, can realise their full potential and contribute their best to the common good.
