PDA has held a World Climate event in Accra as part of the World Climate Week. The event which took place on Thursday 13th October brought together over 30 students from three tertiary institution to partake in the event. The World Climate event is a simplified international climate change negotiations meeting.
Each participant played the role of a delegate representing a specific nation, negotiating bloc. Everyone worked together in their respective roles to reach a global agreement that successfully keeps climate change well below 2˚C over pre-industrial levels globally.
The Simulation events which lasted for 3 Hours saw participants negotiating a deal to keep Global warming below 1.9 degress celsius by 2100.The students were from the University of Ghana, Accra Technical University and the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
Outcomes of the event
The event raised Climate change conscious students who should be able to engage in round table discussion on climate change.

Participants were exposed to real life issues of climate change and the need for countries, bi-lateral and multi-lateral organizations both in the developed and developing world to have a clear road map to reduction of emissions to reduce global warming by 2 degrees Celsius.
The Managing Director expressed PDA’s appreciation to the participants for their commitment and active participation throughout the training workshop and simulation event. She also stated that PDA would continue to engage the participants in its line of work especially in the climate change area and urged them to advocate for climate action. Participants were awarded with Cetificates as well.
