Project Snapshot:
PDA served as a listed service provider for the Business Advocacy Challenge Fund (BUSAC 1), offering technical support and consultancy services to business associations seeking to implement advocacy actions. The project supported four associations in addressing key sector challenges through tailored advocacy proposals, ultimately enhancing stakeholder dialogue and policy engagement.
Project Objectives:
- Support business associations in developing effective advocacy proposals.
- Address critical issues including the review of the chainsaw lumbering ban, improving income tax collection for the informal sector, ensuring access to quality animal feed, and enhancing wood supply in the local market.
- Strengthen engagement between associations, government, private sector, and the media to drive meaningful policy reform.
PDA’s Task:
PDA provided comprehensive technical support and consultancy, guiding the associations through the development and execution of their advocacy initiatives. This included facilitating strategic dialogues, offering expertise in proposal development, and coordinating media interactions to amplify the associations’ concerns.
How We Went About It:
- Tailored Proposal Development: Assisted four specific associations—Birim North Chainsaw Operators Association, Sekyere East Association of Small-Scale Industries, Poultry and Livestock Farmers Association, and Tafo Woodworkers Association—in crafting advocacy proposals that addressed their unique sector challenges.
- Facilitated Stakeholder Dialogue: Organized meetings and discussions with relevant government agencies and private sector stakeholders to ensure that the advocacy messages were well communicated and received.
- Media Engagement: Actively liaised with media outlets to help bring attention to the issues, thereby supporting the associations’ efforts to influence policy and regulatory frameworks.
