Project Snapshot:
This study served as a first step towards integrating HIV/AIDS into the GTZ/MLGRD Local Governance Poverty Reduction Support Programme (LG-PRSP). Conducted across six districts in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions, the study aimed to map existing HIV/AIDS interventions by identifying who was involved, what activities were being conducted, where, and how. Interviews were carried out with diverse stakeholders from public, private, and civil society organizations—including people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs)—to inform further mainstreaming efforts.
Project Objectives:
- Map current HIV/AIDS interventions across key districts.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for integrating HIV/AIDS into broader poverty reduction efforts.
- Provide evidence to guide policy and programme adjustments within LG-PRSP.
PDA’s Task:
PDA led the research effort, conducting stakeholder interviews and gathering evidence to inform the mainstreaming process of HIV/AIDS within the LG-PRSP framework.
How We Went About It:
- Carried out extensive interviews with stakeholders from multiple sectors.
- Documented and analyzed existing HIV/AIDS activities to determine coverage and effectiveness.
- Compiled findings to support policy recommendations for better integration of HIV/AIDS into LG-PRSP.
