Members of PDA’s Research, Evaluation and Learning (REL) team represented Participatory Development Associates (PDA) at the recent celebration of the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture, held in Accra.

The event was organised by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the Australian High Commission in Ghana, bringing together key stakeholders from government, research institutions, and development organisations to highlight efforts aimed at strengthening climate-responsive agriculture across Africa.

The Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture is a six-year initiative valued at A$76.4 million and jointly funded by ACIAR and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Launched in 2024, the partnership seeks to strengthen the climate resilience of African farming systems and improve food security through collaborative research and capacity development between African and Australian institutions.

The event was officially opened by Berenice Owen-Jones, who highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing climate challenges affecting agriculture. The event was attended by several high-level stakeholders, including Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Ghana’s Minister for Special Initiatives, and Gussie Tandoh, Director of the 24‑Hour Economy Secretariat. Representatives from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (Ghana) (CSIR), the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat (AfCFTA), and other development partners were also present.

For PDA, the event provided an opportunity to engage with partners and stakeholders while reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to research and learning as critical tools for designing effective development programmes. By grounding interventions in evidence and community realities, PDA continues to contribute to initiatives that strengthen livelihoods, promote sustainability, and support resilient agricultural systems.
