Project Snapshot:
As part of the three-year Mwananchi Programme, these residential, mostly 3-day capacity building workshops brought together staff from 11 partner civil society organizations. The workshops focused on enhancing practical skills in participatory action research, strategic planning using outcome mapping, media engagement, stakeholder linkages (including traditional authorities and parliament), and planning short advocacy videos.
Project Objectives:
- Strengthen the capacity of partner CSOs in key areas such as participatory action research and strategic planning.
- Enhance media and stakeholder engagement skills for effective advocacy and dissemination of project lessons.
- Facilitate peer learning and knowledge sharing among civil society partners to support sustainable development initiatives.
PDA’s Task:
PDA staff were responsible for planning, designing, and facilitating all capacity building workshops under the Mwananchi Programme. This included coordinating expert sessions (e.g., with a video maker for advocacy videos) and tailoring each workshop to address the practical needs of the partner organizations.
How We Went About It:
- Workshop Planning: Developed a series of interactive, residential workshops spanning three days each over the programme period.
- Interactive Methodologies: Employed participatory techniques such as group exercises, case studies, and hands-on sessions to build practical skills.
- Diverse Topics: Covered a range of topics—from outcome mapping and participatory action research to media engagement and video planning—to ensure comprehensive capacity building.
- Peer Learning: Facilitated sessions that promoted the sharing of experiences and best practices among the 11 partner organizations.
