Project Snapshot:
PDA conducted the Ghana country study as part of ODI’s research into emerging global trends in job markets and their effects on skills development. The study examined the challenges faced by companies and the workforce in an increasingly competitive world, using a combined approach that included a literature review, interviews with multinational companies and key experts, and an in-depth analysis of trends in both Vietnam and Ghana.
Project Objectives:
- Analyze emerging global job market trends and their impact on skills development in Ghana.
- Understand the challenges faced by companies and the workforce regarding recruitment and talent pipelines.
- Explore the role technology can play in training large numbers of people in the right skills.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations for government, business, and education sectors to address employment-skills mismatch issues.
PDA’s Task:
PDA conducted key informant interviews with a broad range of experts from both the public and private sectors, covering industries such as ICT, real estate, telecommunication, and manufacturing, to better understand how these trends will affect recruitment policies and talent pipelines.
How We Went About It:
- Literature Review: Reviewed existing research and data on global job market trends.
- Key Informant Interviews: Carried out interviews with experts from multiple sectors to gather diverse perspectives.
- Comparative Analysis: Examined trends in Vietnam and Ghana to highlight similarities and differences impacting skills development.
- Synthesis & Reporting: Compiled findings to provide a basis for discussions on addressing skills mismatches and harnessing technology for training.
