Project Snapshot:
Oxford Policy Management (OPM) was contracted by FAO to assess the economic impacts of cash transfer programmes across six countries. In Ghana, the focus was on the LEAP cash transfer programme. PDA supported the study by providing two team leaders and six field researchers to conduct a qualitative assessment, exploring the economic impacts of LEAP and its synergies with other social protection programmes.
Project Objectives:
- Evaluate the economic impacts of the LEAP programme in northern Ghana.
- Explore how LEAP interacts with other social protection interventions.
- Provide evidence to inform policy discussions on cash transfers and poverty reduction.
PDA’s Task:
PDA deployed a team to lead and conduct qualitative research, managing field operations and ensuring robust data collection through interviews and focus group discussions.
How We Went About It:
- Literature Review: Reviewed existing studies on cash transfer programmes and economic impacts.
- Field Research: Conducted in-depth interviews with beneficiaries, policymakers, and experts in sectors such as ICT, real estate, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
- Data Analysis: Synthesized qualitative data to identify key trends and insights regarding the impact of LEAP.
