Project Snapshot:
This research aimed to gather and analyze data on the inequities affecting adolescents and young people in Ghana. Focusing on laws, policies, bottlenecks in social service provision, and prevailing socio-cultural norms, the study provided evidence to guide national policy development and programming for youth. The process included extensive desk-based literature reviews, qualitative research in six regions, and the production of a final report along with six regional reports.
Project Objectives:
- Identify the extent and reasons for inequities affecting adolescents and young people.
- Analyze bottlenecks in the provision and utilization of basic social services.
- Recommend actionable areas for policy intervention to reduce vulnerabilities among youth.
PDA’s Task:
PDA was responsible for conducting the desk-based review, field qualitative research (including key informant interviews and community consultations), data analysis, and producing the final national and regional reports.
How We Went About It:
- Literature Review: Conducted a comprehensive review of existing information on youth inequities in Ghana.
- Field Research: Undertook qualitative research in six regions to fill key information gaps.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Held consultations with key informants and communities to validate findings.
- Reporting: Developed a final report and six regional reports to guide national policy and programming.
