Project Snapshot:
This project involved the facilitation of 10 participatory stakeholder consultation workshops for the Fisheries Commission of Ghana. The workshops engaged a wide range of stakeholders from the fisheries sector to provide inputs for finalizing Ghana’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Policies and the National Fisheries Development Plan, paving the way for government adoption and funding.
Project Objectives:
- Gather comprehensive stakeholder input to inform the finalization of national fisheries and aquaculture policies.
- Ensure that the development plan reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of all stakeholders in the fisheries sector.
- Contribute to a more inclusive, evidence-based policy framework for sustainable fisheries development in Ghana.
PDA’s Task:
PDA was responsible for planning and facilitating the stakeholder consultation workshops, coordinating with various fisheries sector stakeholders, and synthesizing their inputs to guide policy and development plan finalization.
How We Went About It:
- Structured Consultations: Organized 10 targeted workshops across the fisheries sector, each designed to engage stakeholders in an interactive dialogue.
- Participatory Methods: Utilized participatory techniques to ensure all voices were heard and actionable insights were captured.
- Synthesis of Inputs: Collated and analyzed feedback from the workshops to contribute to the drafting of the final Fisheries and Aquaculture Policies and Development Plan.
- Collaboration: Worked closely with the Fisheries Commission and NEPAD to align the consultation process with national policy priorities.
